DIY Tiered Cupcake Stand
What you will need:
Silver cake boards increasing in size ( Depending on the amount of layers )
Enough fabric or paper to cover the cake boards
Styrofoam cake seperators ( as shown in “e” ) also dependant on amount of layers.
if you can’t find these, try the green blocks that are used by florists.
Enough ribbon or you can use vintage lace to wrap around the edges of the boards
Glue, scissors, craft knife, glue brush.
1. Place cake board on fabric and cut out a circle about 5cm bigger (pic a). Cut slits all along, fold over and glue down. Do this with all the boards. Take the glue brush and paint the glue around the edges of the board and add the ribbon or vintage lace. Repeat with all the cake boards
2. Now that you have your boards sorted out, its time for the middle sections. If you don’t have the ready made styrofoam cake seperators, take the green florist brick and push out circles with a wide rimmed glass as if you were shaping cookie dough. Cover the round section with the fabric or paper and glue down so that you don’t see the bare side. Trim edges with a craft knife
3. Using 3 seperators for the larger bottom board, glue these to the underside at intervals and place something heavy on the top to let the glue dry. Repeat this process with all the boards untill you have your decorated tiered cupcake stand.
The full instructions for this diy I found here, but I converted it into a shorter version. I hope this makes sense as I’ve not done a tutorial before.
That totally makes sense. I made one of these for a friends wedding a year ago and loved how it turned out. Sadly I don’t have any real pictures. One piece advice is to make sure that it is sturdy and the cardboard lays flat. Some of the cardboard was bent when we got it and it took awhile to flatten it so that it could be reliable for the cupcakes.
